the terrible disease of being human

i had dinner with angie and wenhan again last night ! we were supposed to go for funk jazz class but oh well we were abit lazy (at least i was). had a ball of a time reminiscing about old secondary school and third language days. oh and even primary school days ! haha. me and wenhan are still incredibly amused about how we became close in primary 5 or 6. it really is a little freaky now that i think about it ! and we talked of loyalty days stuffing mashed up curry rice (which we ate almost everyday) into straws, running away from bugs (a.k.a. jo), face clamps (pay $50 to remove), pretending to be wolverine using straws as claws, drinking alcohol right before o'level chem pract (yes i know that was the dumbest thing ever) then breaking all our apparatus during the exam, dancing to HEART 91.3FM like ah bengzzz and ah lianxx in the art room, laughing at THE BUG (some chinese high guy) in his face during 3rd lang, and a whole lot of other funny memories. we really did some of the craziest and stupidest things in secondary school, esp in sec3 and 4. sigh those were good times.

anyway, i just finished reading lord of the flies by william golding a few days back. it wasn't an enjoyable read at all. in fact it was downright depressing and very difficult to read so it took me really long to finish. but once i read golding's notes at the back of the book and the introduction (yes i spent one whole night cross-referencing with the story) i think the book is incredibly brilliant. it wasn't enjoyable, but it was brilliant. the way golding explored the capacity of man to do evil was fantastic. the book really invokes thought, and i felt like i actually learned something. haha.

and so, after many weeks of ultimate frustration, i finally got the closure that i was so desperately looking for (:

the quiet things no one ever knows
when it all falls apart
just a game to you
